The perfect cup of matcha - my method
I've been experimenting with matcha for years, and here's my favorite routine:
-
Premium matcha needs the best tools. I use a small bamboo whisk (chasen), but a small handheld milk frother will also do at home.
-
Temperature is key. Boil water, then let it sit for 5-7 minutes. This allows the water to cool down just enough (to 80°C) so it doesn't burn the delicate green tea aromas of the matcha. I use this kettle: De'Longhi Eclettica SpecialTea. I can recommend it for tea making, as the temperature can be adjusted and maintained.
- Proportions: It's important to consume the right amount for you, although the caffeine content of matcha is unique: due to the L-theanine content of green tea, its effect is calm, focused alertness - without the nervousness or "jitters" associated with coffee. Thus, a cup of matcha provides a balanced energy that can last for up to 4-6 hours.
-
Don't rush! Whisk quickly but steadily until a fine, silky foam covers the surface of the tea. Enjoy every moment of your tea or latte!
- As a latte: Dissolve about 1 teaspoon of matcha in a little 80-degree water, then add 150–200 ml of warm or cold milk - sweeten to taste!
The price of the package includes a gift box, which is perfect for gifting. The pattern of the boxes may vary per order.
